Ply Select started in 2021 with no gym, no court, and no coaches—just a driveway, a hoop, and a group of kids who wouldn’t stop playing. After school and on weekends, they’d meet up on that driveway, picking teams, calling games, and running it back until the sun dipped low. Cars would slow down when the games got loud, neighbors would peek outside when someone hit a big shot, and the driveway became their home arena. It wasn’t organized on paper, but it was real: everyone learned how to compete, how to settle things with a rematch instead of an argument, and how to keep coming back even when the pavement scraped your knees and the ball bounced into the street.

As the runs grew, so did the vision. More kids started pulling up, then friends from other blocks, and suddenly that little driveway scene felt like the start of something bigger. The group began locking in—setting times, keeping track of who showed up, matching up against new competition, and saving money for tournament fees and gear. Eventually, Ply Select made the leap from driveway battles to entering AAU tournaments, carrying that same gritty, self-made energy into every gym they stepped into. Even when they finally had real courts and real schedules, the program still felt like the driveway: earned, not given—built by players who started with almost nothing and turned it into a team name people recognized.
